Coastal Rivers maintains exceptional community facilities for public benefit.
Two historic farms with barns and buildings available for community events and gatherings, meeting rooms open to fellow non-profit groups at no cost, and an ice skating rink and warming hut available free of charge to all are just some of the facilities we make available to the community year-round.
GREAT SALT BAY FARM & HERITAGE CENTER
The 115 acre farm includes over one mile of shorefront, extensive wetlands providing both fresh and saltwater habitats, and rolling fields that have been worked for 200 years. It also serves as a home for Coastal Rivers’ Nature Education Center and a visitor center with interpretive displays about the area’s natural history.
ROUND TOP FARM
Darrows Barn is a 1929 hay barn owned and operated by Coastal Rivers. It has been converted to support community and musical and events and is available to rent by the day or three day weekend. Known for its excellent acoustics and located less than 1.5 miles from the town center of Damariscotta, the barn is a perfect place to hold an event.
COASTAL RIVERS COMMUNITY ICE SKATING RINK
A gift to the community, Coastal Rivers’ ice rink at Round Top Farm depends on Mother Nature for ice and numerous volunteers for ice maintenance. Approximately 60’ x 130’, the rink provides plenty of space for free skating and pick-up hockey games. Round Top’s old ice cream shack now serves as a warming hut on weekend afternoons.
The upkeep and staffing of these facilities depends largely on the generosity of volunteers. Learn more about volunteer opportunities for Community Facilities.
