Trail difficulty rating

Coastal Rivers trails are rated in difficulty relative to one another. Preserves with multiple trails may have more than one level of difficulty. Please see “accessibility” descriptions on individual preserve pages for more details about terrain, features, and conditions for each trail.

Green

These are our flattest and smoothest trails – gentlest on knees and heart.

Blue

These trails may have some obstacles (such as roots and rocks) to step over, bog bridges, and more changes in elevation than green trails.

Black

These trails may have more frequent and or/larger obstacles (such and roots and rocks) to step over, bog bridges, steeper sections of trail, or a sideways incline on the trail surface. They generally require greater balance and a higher level of exertion than blue trails.
