Free trees, fun activities, and more
Join us, along with the Towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle, for the annual Twin Villages Arbor Day Celebration!
This family-friendly community event honors Arbor Day with opportunities to celebrate trees, connect with neighbors, and learn more about the importance of community forestry. As part of the celebration, we will be giving away free trees to plant at home (two per household, while supplies last). This event will include:
- Free tree giveaway and planting demonstrations
- Community activities and opportunities to learn about local trees and native plants
- Native plants for sale from the Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District
- Story hour with Skidompha Library at 10:30 a.m.
- Fun for all ages!
*The trees we’ll be giving away are a mix of species including balsam fir, red maple, serviceberry, paper birch, ironwood, pagoda dogwood, flowering dogwood, winterberry, tamarack, black gum, ninebark, American plum, white oak, and swamp white oak. Trees come in one gallon pots. Most are 12-15″ tall, but several are as tall as 4′.
Update: All trees are reserved! However, there may be unclaimed trees tomorrow. For a chance at getting an unclaimed tree, we recommend being here at 11:30.
This project is funded in part through a grant awarded by the Maine Forest Service and the USDA Forest Service.
