Dive into the world of eelgrass with a guided paddle on Great Salt Bay
We invite you to grab your paddle and join us for a scenic guided tour of Great Salt Bay’s vibrant eelgrass beds, one of our coastline’s most vital hidden ecosystems!
Led by Devin Domeyer (Coastal Resiliency Specialist, Maine Coastal Program) and Sarah Gladu (Director of Community Science, Coastal Rivers), this hands-on paddle will take you up close to a fascinating marine plant. You’ll learn how to identify eelgrass and its developing seeds, discover how it fights climate change through carbon sequestration, and find out how it provides a critical nursery for local marine life.
We will also share the exciting details behind our newly funded, 7-year eelgrass restoration project right here in the bay!
