Incredible Insects
Join Coastal Rivers naturalists for a foray into the fields to learn about insects and observe them doing insect things – ants tending aphids like tiny farmers, butterflies preparing for an epic migration, beetles excreting green liquid from their knees to ward off predators (!) and many other amazing behaviors.
We will practice careful use of insect nets (provided by us) to ensure we do not injure the tiny subjects we catch for identification. We will also spend time just looking and learning about these diverse and incredible creatures.
Hats are recommended (but please use bug spray sparingly, as we may be handling insects!) We love dogs, but ask that you leave them at home for this program.
