Intro to Birding at Salt Bay Farm
This Mid-Coast Audubon field trip is geared toward novice birders and those who are curious about birding. We’ll cover basic birding equipment and how to use it and then move on to the fundamentals of bird identification. We’ll have loaner binoculars for those without.
This will be a slow-walking event starting at the parking lot, visiting the feeding station and the causeway by the pond, and possibly around the pond back to the parking lot (less than half a mile in total) on mown trails through fields.
Bobolink, Red-winged Blackbird, Eastern Bluebird, American Goldfinch, Tree Swallow, and Song Sparrow are some of the species that we are likely to encounter.
Directions: We’ll meet in the Salt Bay Farm parking lot located at 110 Belvedere Rd, Damariscotta, ME 04543 at 8 am.
