Partner Event: Protecting ponds and lakes from invasive aquatic plants

August 25 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

Invasive Eurasian watermilfoil

Hosted by the Bremen Conservation Commission

Aquatic invasive plants can have a devastating effect on native plants, fish, birds and other aquatic species in our lakes and ponds. In water bodies where invasives have taken hold, they hamper human recreation as well, making boating, fishing, and swimming difficult, and causing property values to decline.

Presented by Coastal Rivers’ Director of Education and Citizen Science Sarah Gladu. Through a slide show and plant samples, Sarah will provide participants with the skills to identify these plants. Come away with information and resources about what to do if these plants are found in local waters, and learn how you can help monitor for invasive aquatic plants and protect local ponds, streams and lakes.

The program is free of charge and will take place at the Bremen Library on Route 32 in Bremen.
