Native Plants for New England Gardens
July 19, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeMark Richardson and Dan Jaffe, co-authors of Native Plants for New England Gardens (2018, Globe Pequot Press) will be at Darrows Barn in Damariscotta on July 19 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM to discuss their book and share their experiences maintaining the native gardens at Garden in the Woods in Framingham, MA.
Native plants have evolved over many years to make them well adapted to their locality so they require less water, fertilizer or pesticides to thrive. Not only do they add beauty to our landscape, but they also help support healthy ecosystems and provide food for wildlife.
In addition to the presentation, there will be a variety of native plants for sale by Sharon Turner of Washington, Maine. Turner is a Master Gardener, consultant, educator and designer who specializes in heirloom and open-pollinated vegetable and flower seedlings as well as native perennials, shrubs, and trees. She grows for FedCo Seeds.
