You are invited to a cocktail party at the elegant 1812 Farm in Bristol Mills!

Enjoy drinks and delicious food, and music by Castlebay, while you learn more about the project from your hosts, Damariscotta River Association and the newly formed Friends of Pemaquid Mill.

Tickets are $25, and all proceeds benefit the Campaign for Pemaquid Mill.

Some background on the campaign:
The last remaining sawmill in Bristol (there were seven) at Pemaquid Falls is being sold by Hammond Lumber. The Mill building is largely intact and was used to saw lumber into the 1960s. The mouth of the Pemaquid River has a significant run of alewives and elvers. The area was used by Native Americans almost 5,500 years ago, and mills have been on the site since the mid-1600s.

A group of local residents, the Friends of Pemaquid Mill, assisted by DRA, PWA, and the Old Bristol Historical Society, want to buy the Mill building on the saltwater side of Route 130, improve the site to show the history of Bristol and how the mill worked. We understand the freshwater side of the site has already been purchased, and the new owner may be willing to allow kayak and canoe access.

Hammond Lumber wants to close the sale by the end of October, and we need to raise the funds to make this happen. The total we need to raise is $360,000. We have already raised $180,000 in cash and pledges.

This event is your opportunity learn more about why we are so excited about this project, and help us gain on our goal!
