Laurie Chandler, perhaps the first female canoeist to solo paddleLaurie Chandler all 740 miles of this remote waterway, will tell the stories of her travels, which included 67 portages across 127 miles.

“Following historical waterways and portages across New England was an incredible opportunity to see the intricacy of nature and experience the universal kindness of people. It is still humbling to realize that, in spite of the challenges of flooding, upstream travel, wind, and even escaped convicts, there was never a day so difficult that I couldn’t continue towards my goal,” said Chandler about her wilderness trip.

Chandler will will talk about what drove her to undertake this challenge and what kept her going along the way. This program is free of charge to members and the fee for non-members is $5.00. Call the DRA to preregister by February 4.
