Smog of the Sea – Film and Panel Discussion

Stunning cinematography chronicles a 1-week journey through the remote waters of the Sargasso Sea with marine scientist Marcus Eriksen, renowned surfers Keith & Dan Malloy, musician Jack Johnson, spearfisher-woman Kimi Werner, and bodysurfer Mark Cunningham. Their mission: evaluate the presence of plastics in the world’s oceans.

The film will be followed by an informational panel discussion with

  • Matt Prindiville, Executive Director of UPSTREAM and featured in the film
  • Sarah Lakeman, Sustainable Maine Project Director at the Natural Resources Council of Maine
  • Sarah Gladu, Director of Education and Environmental Monitoring at Damariscotta River Association
