Guided hike on the River~Link Trail – RESCHEDULED
Enjoy an afternoon hike along the River~Link Trail where we will walk old farm roads, traverse the side of Hunger Mountain, cross a few small streams and look for special plants like rattlesnake plantain along the way. This wildlife corridor is one of the few large blocks of intact land along this region of the coast, providing critical habitat for moose, deer, bobcats, bears and other big animals. We will look for signs of wildlife as we hike.

Partner Event: Birding field Trip to Salt Bay Farm
Join us as we explore the varied habitats of Coastal River Conservation Trust's Salt Bay Farm. We’ll focus on migrating sparrows and blackbirds, hoping to pick off species like Lincoln’s Sparrow or Rusty Blackbird, as well as the last of the warblers for the year. On the right day, this hotspot can yield over 50 species even in fall.

Salt Bay Farm is widely viewed as an excellent destination for birding in spring, but it has a lot to offer in fall as well! Join us as we explore this preserve’s varied habitats looking for sparrows, pipits, finches, and waterfowl. We might even get lucky and find some late stragglers in need of extra motivation to fly south!On the right day, this hotspot can yield over 50 species even in fall.

Guided hike at Salt Bay Farm Preserve
Celebrate National Take a Hike Day with us! Join naturalist Sarah Gladu at Salt Bay Farm Preserve in Damariscotta for a stroll through rolling fields and along the shores of Great Salt Bay to visit ancient middens. We may witness late migratory birds in route to southern habitat, and visit the salt marsh in hopes of seeing signs of mink and other wildlife. There may be some muddy spots, so wear appropriate shoes or boots.

For this early winter field trip, we’ll brave the cold and venture back out to Salt Bay Farm. We’ll scope the Salt Bay for Barrow’s Goldeneye and carefully scan the hedgerows in search of Northern Shrikes. We should also see American Tree Sparrow, finches, and a variety of ducks.

Guided hike at NORGAL Preserve
Join Naturalist Sarah Gladu and fellow nature enthusiasts for a gentle hike at NORGAL Preserve in Bristol. The center of the Pemaquid peninsula is a magnet for wildlife including deer, coyotes, a variety of weasels and much more. We will keep an eye out for signs of these wild neighbors during our walk!
