What you can do to be Shore Smart
What you can do to be Shore Smart
Do you live on or near the water – whether the ocean, a lake or pond, a river or stream? Our waterways are beautiful and offer many opportunities for recreation, but they are also vulnerable. Threats to our local lakes, ponds, and rivers include toxic cyanobacteria or algae blooms, erosion and sediment, and bacterial contamination.
The good news is, there are many low or no-cost projects that can make a significant difference to long-term water quality. Join us on December 12, either in person or online, to learn the big and small things you can do on your own property to protect water quality. Click the program title for more information or to register.

Naturalist Fireside Chats: 12/14/23
Naturalist Fireside Chats: 12/14/23
You do not have to have a fireplace to join naturalist Sarah Gladu by Zoom for one or more monthly conversations about local natural history, recent happenings, nature observations and more.
This relaxed and unstructured time is for anyone who has nature observations to share or questions about nature in your backyard. We may share things we've seen outside or wondered about recently, or perhaps discuss a book or article we've has happened across. Pick up interesting tidbits such as how chickadees remember where they put the seeds they store, or why trees don’t freeze. Perhaps you have seen some mysterious tracks in the snow that you want to identify.
