During Nature School, Salt Bay Farm in Damariscotta – or Plummer Point Preserve in South Bristol – becomes your students’ very own, nature-focused schoolhouse for a week, with fields, forests, coastal areas and marshes to explore. Both Coastal Rivers preserves offer the kids a fun and unique setting to engage in learning that is not constrained by a typical classroom setting or schedule.

Throughout the week, we do a combination of regular school classes and active, hands-on outdoor nature education programs with Coastal Rivers’ staff.  Teachers of special classes like art, music, and physical education are encouraged to join on their regular schedules. 

Nature School takes place  in January or February. We integrate sledding and snowshoeing when feasible.
