Trail Tamers “After Hours”
Join us for a special "After Hours" edition of Trail Tamers! We will be working at the beautiful Bass Rock Preserve, putting in bog bridging to elevate a muddy portion of trail. Afterwards, we will enjoy some light snacks by the water.

Taught by Wilderness Medical Associates International. Wilderness First Aid is the ideal course for outdoor enthusiasts on overnight or short term wilderness adventures. Students will be able to recognize medical emergencies, and will become familiar with basic life saving skills, patient assessment, and basic field care for common injuries. Course topics include: patient assessment and emergency care, musculoskeletal injuries, environmental medicine, management of wounds, non-technical lifting, moving, and extrication of patients, etc.

Join Naturalist Sarah Gladu and fellow nature enthusiasts for a gentle hike at Plummer Point Preserve in South Bristol. Plummer Point is a local favorite, with its lovely coastal spruce forest and stunning views of the Damariscotta River, Seal Cove, and nearby islands. We'll listen for the songs of woodland birds such as winter wren and hermit thrush, look for basking seals, and explore the shoreline. Along the way, we'll notice how the estuary influences the forest and vice versa.

This is a chance to visit with each other and with staff, catch up on recent successes, and hear about what we’re working on. The program will also include a brief business meeting to vote in new trustees.

Join Naturalist Sarah Gladu and fellow nature enthusiasts for a gentle hike at NORGAL Preserve in Bristol. Enjoy this woodland preserve and search for fall wildlife activity. The center of the Pemaquid peninsula is a magnet for wildlife including deer, coyotes, a variety of weasels and much more. We may see migratory warblers on their way south. We will search for signs of wildlife in the forests and along the streams.

Enjoy an afternoon hike along the River~Link Trail where we will walk old farm roads, traverse the side of Hunger Mountain, cross a few small streams and look for special plants like rattlesnake plantain along the way. This wildlife corridor is one of the few large blocks of intact land along this region of the coast and as such it provides critical habitat for moose, deer, bobcats, bears and other mammals. We will look for signs of wildlife as we hike.

Celebrate National Take a Hike Day with us! Join naturalist Sarah Gladu at Salt Bay Farm Preserve in Damariscotta for a stroll through rolling fields and along the shores of Great Salt Bay to visit ancient middens. We may witness late migratory birds in route to southern habitat, and visit the salt marsh in hopes of seeing signs of mink and other wildlife. There may be some muddy spots, so wear appropriate shoes or boots.
