A fruitful partnership
Coastal Rivers partners with Twin Villages Foodbank Farm, an organization growing food for donation to area food pantries and other low-income programs. The farm uses organic growing practices on three acres of prime farmland at Coastal Rivers’ Salt Bay Farm in Damariscotta.
How it works
Coastal Rivers donates use of its fertile fields, acts as fiscal sponsor, and provides administrative support for the farm. Coastal Rivers also donates storage space at Darrows Barn for the farm’s Community Storage Hub.
The farm maintains its own identity and funding, while under the umbrella of Coastal Rivers’ status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

More about the Farm
TVFF is dedicated to its role as a primary source of fresh organic food for those who need it most. Each year the farm produces, collects from other sources, and distributes over 75,000 pounds of food to food pantries in Boothbay, Damariscotta/Newcastle, Jefferson, New Harbor, Waldoboro, Whitefield, and Wiscasset, as well as to area youth programs and help-yourself shelves.
Cultivating the fields at Salt Bay Farm honors the history of the farm by returning some of the land to active farmland, while significantly increasing access to fresh, local produce for families in our communities. The opportunity to reestablish crop production at the farm is a powerful reminder that the health of our lands, water and people are closely linked.”
