Public Safety and Accessibility Collaborative (PSAC) Seeking Members

Help ensure safe opportunities for walking and cycling

Coastal Rivers is a part of the Public Safety and Accessibility Collaborative (PSAC) and is pleased to share this invitation from PSAC Co-Chairs Anton Lahnston and Jean Moon.

In 2019, a small group of Damariscotta residents introduced a promising community grassroots initiative – the Public Safety and Accessibility Collaborative, or PSAC.

PSAC is composed of a mix of Damariscotta citizen volunteers and organizations such as Coastal Rivers who care very much about the need for continuing development of walking pathways, sidewalks and safe bicycle lanes and pathways. Together, these initiatives are intended to support both safety and the health of our community. As a citizen- and stakeholder-driven collaboration, we work with the Town of Damariscotta to develop short- and long- term strategies focused on safety and accessibility for all, regardless of age.

What have we accomplished to date?

  • Worked with the Town to help in the completion of the Bristol Road sidewalk project
  • Undertook a successful Bike Survey providing valuable data on the need for bicycle safety
  • Developed the Twin Villages Walking Map
  • Increased the visibility of the Measured Mile walking pathway, with signage donated by Dr. Minda Gold
  • Ongoing support of town officials – including the Town Manager, Selectboard, Police Department, and Planning Committee — on community safety and related topics

Our work as a collaborative has grown significantly since PSAC was formed and now, more than ever, volunteer help is needed! If you share our vision for a safe community for walkers and cyclists, and those who seek opportunities for walking trails, PSAC invites you to join us as we work to build a safe, healthy and accessible community.

PSAC meets monthly, over Zoom. The meetings generally begin at 3:30 P.M. and end at 5 PM. All are welcome – regardless of age. PSAC is growing and we invite you to join us.

Thank you Coastal Rivers for helping PSAC spread the word!
