Length: 1.5 miles
The Hilton O’Connor Trail meanders through the 47-acre Bremen Town Forest. Dedicated in memory of Diane Hilton O’Connor, who was a long-time member of the Bremen Conservation Commission, the trail features mixed forest types, a salt marsh, a hay meadow, and a winding brook.
Managing organization: Town of Bremen
An easy to moderate trail, peaceful and quiet, with a variety of forest types and opportunities for birdwatching. There are some impressive red oaks along the trail and delightful fern alleys, bubbling brooks, and a winding salt marsh along the eastern edge of the forest. In late summer, look for monarch caterpillars in the meadow.
Directions to Trailhead:
From Business Rt. 1 in Damariscotta, turn onto Biscay Road at the traffic light (by McDonalds). Follow Biscay Road until the intersection with Route 32 and turn left. The Bremen Town House and Fire Department will be on the right after a little over 2 miles. Parking is at the Town House. The trailhead can be found in the picnic area in the woods just behind the Town House.
